The Consortium has a new name and some new rules
Community Lives Consortium
On the 18th July 2006 we held a Special General Meeting for all Consortium Members.
At this meeting Consortium members agreed to change the name of the Consortium to Community Lives Consortium. Members also agreed to change some of our company rules. This change has legally come into effect from the 20th September 2006.
Over the next 6 months we will work through all the changes that need to take place when a company changes it's names; from getting new headed paper and e-mail addresses to informing all the agencies that we work with.
This change will not effect the services or employment that we offer in any way.

Why ave we decided to change the name of the Consortium?
We have been called Community Lives Consortium since we were first established in 1989. Over the last 5 or 6 years this name has caused increasing confusion.
After the local government re-organisation that broke up West Glamorgan County Council into City and County of Swansea and Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, West Glamorgan as a place does not mean a great deal to people. The Consortium only delivers direct services in the Swansea and Neath Port Talbot area, and we have no intention of this changing, however the ‘West Glamorgan’ bit of our name is not very useful.
The ‘Housing Consortium’ bit of our name misleads people; they often think we are a Housing Association or a landlord.
We own no housing; our role is to deliver the right support to people so that they can enjoy ordinary lives wherever they live in the community.
Over the last 5 years the services that we can provide has widened out significantly; we provide help with managing money, transport, information, staff, as well as supporting people who want to live in a range of places in a range of ways.
Thus the name Community Lives Consortium although very important to us, is no longer the right name for what we do now and what we will be doing over the next 15 years.
Community Lives Consortium describes well who we are and what we do.
'Community Lives’ is what we have always tried to help people enjoy.
'Consortium' continues to represent the partnership and working together that always exists when our services work well.
What will happen next?
Once our new name is registered with the Financial Services Authority we will tell all of the agencies that we work with that our name has changed.
We will need to issue new identity cards and ammended contracts of empoyment to staff. This will not effect any staff member's contract of employment.
Tenants and their supporters will not experience any change to their service as a result of this.
We think that the process of changing all of our information will take about 6 months, so the process of the change of name will be completed by March 2007.
